Sri Adichunchanagiri Mahasamsthana Math, situated in the state of Karnataka, India, is a Socio-Spiritual center, which has the history of 1500 years to its credit. Sri Math is involved in various activities like; Healthcare activities, Environmental activities, Educational activities, Moral & Ethical activities apart from the spiritual activities.
Sri Math has been reverberated with the spiritual resonance which is inundated with the Spiritual penance of thousands of Saints and Siddhas. Sri Math has the holy lineage of spiritual masters which was initiated by Lord Shiva at the end of his deep penance at Sri Kshetra Adichunchanagiri. Dharmapeeta thus established by Lord Shiva, witnessed 70 Jagadgurus the 71st pontiff being His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Dr. Balagangadharanatha Mahaswamiji and 72nd pontiff is His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Dr. Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji who is Presently heading the Sri Math – After His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Dr. Blagangadaranatha Mahaswamiji, assumed the religious throne as Jagadguru started working towards the society in different areas. H.H.Swamiji started more than 400 Educational centers across the Globe, where in about One Lakh students from different cross section of the society are quenching the thirst of their Knowledge. With the vision of giving Modern Education with the Urban standards, to the rural mass, More than 85% institutions are started in Rural area. Blinds Schools are started at Karnataka and Tamilnadu States along with the Institutions for physically and Intellectually challenged. Destitute Centers and old age homes are established in many places to help the distressed mass of the society making their lives quite sublime.
In rural areas understanding the need of Healthcare facilities, Sri Swamiji has opened many Hospitals and Healthcare centers along with high-tech and super speciality Hospitals both in Rural and Urban areas. To maintain the Ecological balance, His Holiness started plantation project, with view of one plant each for every one. As a result more than 50 millions plants are planted, thus covering, the mother earth with lush green patch. Many cattle sheds are opened to protect the cattle wealth, which is the backbone of our agriculture-based country.
Whenever nature hits the normal life of human begins thus devastating by flood and extreme famine at times, Sri Swamiji rushed to the help of bereaved families thousand of houses were build at the cost of millions of rupees and millions of tonnes of food grains and clothes were supplied to such affected families.
To establish communal harmony in society for peaceful and harmonious life, quite often our Sri Math conducts Inter religious-faith conferences inviting different religious heads. Also Poojya Swamiji visited many countries spreading spiritual essence of all Religions. Along with Dr.A.P.J Kalam, former president of India, “Foundation for Unity of Religions and Enlightened Citizenship – FUREC” was started under the president ship of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Dr. Balaganagadharanatha Mahaswamiji. H.H.Swamiji economically and socially deprived communities Under same umbrella and gave all kinds of support like Education, Health, Fiscal and Spiritual education, to evolve both at inner and out world. Many spiritual centers are opened at U.S.A, Germany and like. Realizing the service rendered by the Poojya Swamiji to the society, many State, National & International Universities have conferred honorary Doctorates upon Swamiji. Hundreds of Other awards have adored H.H.Swamiji Government of India conferred “Padma Bhushan- 2010“, the prestigious National award on Swamiji for his out-standing contribution to the society in different field.
Initially, the Trust was formed with the following aims and objectives
- To advance the cause of Education and diffusion of Knowledge without distinction of caste & creeds.
- To achieve the objectives, to maintain, and to run the existing institutions viz., Ganadhareswara Anathalaya, Gurukula Madyamikasala, Kalabyraveswara Samskritha Patashala.
- To Start and run Nursery and primary schools.
- To further advance the cause of education by establishing rural colleges for the benefit of students in the surrounding areas.
- To provide free boarding and lodging for the needy students by running hostels. To establish, to maintain hostels, library, reading room, gymnasium and playgrounds for the benefit of the students studying in the above Institutions.
- To give loans, scholarships and other monetary benefits to the needy students studying in the higher classes.
- To provide better Health and Medical facilities to the people by starting hospitals and dispensaries.
Bhairavaikya Sri Sri Sri Dr.Balagangadharanatha Mahaswamiji
In the holy lineage of “Guruparampara”,
His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Sri Sri Dr.Balagangadharanatha Mahaswamiji took charge as the 71st spiritual Head of Sri Adhichunchanagiri Mahasamsthana Math in 1974, at the age of 30. From that day, Sri Math began its upward journey with rapid strides.
His Holiness Jagadguru Sri sri Sri Dr.Balagangadharanatha Swamiji’s efforts have focused on the basic necessities like Anna, Akshara and Arogya (i.e Food, Education and Health). Sri Sri Swamiji has established more than four hundred recognized and highly regarded educational Institutions, where in more than seventy thousand students are quenching their thirst of knowledge; a significant number are from rural areas.
His Holiness started more than 480 Educational Institutions across the globe right from Play school to Professional Education where in around One Lakh Twenty Five Thousand students from different sections of society are quenching their thirst of knowledge. Ten Thousand students gained the opportunity of getting free education. With the vision of giving modern education to rural masses with urban standards, more than 85% of institutions are established in rural areas.

Man cannot live in isolation, however great he may be. He depends on society in every walk of life. It, therefore becomes his bounden duty to give back to society what he receives from it. It will, indeed, be a wasted life if he cannot pay back this debt to society, albeit in little measure, during his lifetime. This can be done if man is constantly tuned to the wants of the less privileged.
Today the world is a boiling cauldron of social ills like illiteracy, ill health and poverty, compounded by natural disasters like earthquakes and floods. If only each one of us take up cudgels against just one issue and make it our business to alleviate the problem!How wonderful if each one of us made it our life’s mission to provide just one family with the basic necessities of Anna, Akshara and Arogya…food, education and health! But engaging oneself in social service is no mean task. It should not be indulged in for the sake of fame or fortune.
Social service must be done with the spirit of doing one’s duty, and not as dispensing a favour. One should indeed feel blessed that he has been given an opportunity to serve the needy. Service to mankind is service to God, and not for a moment should this dictum be forgotten.
With a view to propagate education, research and service to humanity at large, In its journey of commitments to the nation for more than Four Decades, the Sri Adichunchanagiri Shikshana Trust has established a number of educational institutions running mainly in Medical, Nursing, Engineering, Management, General Education, Pharmacy, Ayurvedic, etc. These institutes of the trust are located throughout the state of Karnataka, Salem and Erode in Tamil Nadu, having strength of more than 10 million students. All these institutions are run under the able guidance of Sri Sri Sri Dr.Nirmalanandanatha Maha Swamiji.
